Kim Kardashian

Keeping Up with the Kardashians may not be your cup of tea, but you can’t deny the fact that the show’s star, Kim Kardashian, has amazing style.

I love the look shown on the left, which Kim recently posted on her blog.  While ripped jeans are everywhere this summer, I, personally, have yet to embrace this trend. Kim roll hers up and wears them with brown booties, which is a great way to dress up a pair of worn, casual jeans. This combo looks so good that I may have to reconsider my position on ripped denim.

A loose-fitting white button down shirt completes the look. Kim has the sleeves of her blouse rolled up–a look you can steal and adjust for summer by opting for a 3/4 sleeved shirt. To infuse your outfit with Kim’s “I’m not too dressed up” vibe, make sure that the white shirt you choose is slightly over-sized and baggy rather than skintight. No tucking in, either!

A final thought before singing off: KK’s attractiveness stems from more than just her flawless features and fabulous taste in clothing. She wears everything with a great amount of confidence, even though she is not a size zero. As the curvy-licious entrepreneur has said many times, she embraces everything about who she is and how she looks. I think that all women, regardless of their personal style, should channel their inner Kim by embracing this timeless philosophy.

The Brilliance of Betsey Johnson (Shoes)

Pink Glitter Polly Shoe ($220, Betsey Johnson)

Anybody who is familiar with Betsey Johnson’s collection knows that her clothing and accessories are not for the faint of heart. Exploding with color, her jewelry, dresses and everything in between has a playful, whimsical look.

Her Glitter Polly shoe has been one of my favorites for years. My black pair has taken me through countless nights of dancing and even trekking through mounds of snow in Montreal on one unfortunate night (don’t ask…) In any case, that should tell you something about how comfortable and sturdy they are!

Silver Glitter Polly Shoe ($220, Betsey Johnson)

Silver Glitter Polly Shoe ($220, Betsey Johnson)

The combination of metallic, leather and glittery textures on the Pollys makes them stand out from a lot of other shoes I’m seeing these days. Because these mules are ‘statement’ shoes, they are just the thing to use for accessorizing muted colors and simple designs. I love wearing them with a cute top and black leggings or skinny jeans.

The Glitter Polly is available in pink, black and silver. If such a bold look is not quite what you’re looking for, try the slightly tamer leather Polly.

Looking at my own trusty pair, I could not have spent that $220 in a better way when I bought these shoes four years ago.

L’Oreal Vive Pro Shampoo & Conditioner

L'Oreal Vive Pro Nutri Gloss ShampooI’m the type that gets tired of shampoos and conditioners quite fast. After two or three uses, I run to the store to scope out any new ones that I can try. But one line of products has been a recent exception.

I’ve bought L’Oreal Vive Pro shampoo and conditioner the last five or six times that my supplies ran out.  At $4.99 a piece, that’s pretty doable. First of all, I am amazed at the detangling power of these products, which do wonders for my long, intensely knot-prone hair. After each wash, my hair looks shiny and feels incredibly soft, like I’ve just had a professional glossing treatment at a salon. loreal-paris-vive-pro-nutri-gloss-conditionerDon’t worry, no one has been left out; the line covers most hair types, including fine, damaged and curly.

Both the shampoo and the conditioner have a pleasant, refreshing smell. Plus, these fabulous concoctions are bottled in pretty pink containers–an added bonus for anyone who gets a thrill out of stocking their bathroom with girly-looking products.

Lauren Conrad

Lauren Conrad

As requested by one of our readers, this week we bring to you the look for less a la Lauren Conrad. In the last couple of weeks I’ve finally been able to get caught up on Lauren’s last season on The Hills. The trailers for upcoming episodes make it clear that her replacement–frenemy Kristen Cavallari–will cause more drama than Lauren ever did in her 5 seasons on the show. While we are way overdue for new story lines on The Hills, I’ll miss following Lauren and her experience in the fashion industry.
