My recent post about Sally Hansen ‘Salon’ nail polish got me thinking about mastering painting my nails on my own. And I’ve just added a new tool to my DIY manicure arsenal!

Orly Top 2 Bottom Basecoat and Topcoat is amazing. The first coat, which you apply before using color, provides a solid base that allows you to apply a smooth, even coat of color. After your color has dried, apply a second coat of Top 2 Bottom. It provides a transparent seal that prevents chipping, helping your manicure last longer.

I was amazed at what a neat job I was able to do. After a little help from a cotton swab dipped in nail polish remover, which I used to clean up any excess polish from the cuticles, I felt like I may never need to go for a professional manicure again!

Nude and tan-colored shoes are another big trend for Spring 2010. Since they go with every other color, they’ll quickly become one of your most dependable staples. You might as well say that nude is the new black. As an added bonus, nude pumps have an incredible leg-lengthening effect, making your them look a mile long!

Stripes, anchors, seersucker print, macrame details–these are the themes for this spring. Whichever you choose, be sure to pair navy with white. Think summer spent yachting around or hanging out on white sand beaches as you channel your inner sailor.

There’s nothing better than a watch that is both practical and incredibly stylish. The La Mer Collections Double Chain Wrap Watch definitely fulfills both of these criteria.

Practical: The face includes all 12 numbers, which means you can easily tell what time it is when you quickly glance at the watch. The wide leather strap, meanwhile, ensures that the watch stays in place instead of sliding up and down your wrist.

Stylish: Make no mistake, this is a statement watch that can stand on its own. When you put it on, there’s no need for any other bracelets or rings. What’s more is that the deep grey of the strap will go with pretty everything in your wardrobe.

The gold studs and chains that intertwine with the strap give this watch a perfect dash of toughness. Pair it with feminine pieces such as a delicate blouse or ruffled cardigan.

$108 is a very reasonable price for a quality watch. When you add to the equation its style value, the Double Chain Wrap Watch is a splurge-worthy must-have.

AnnaLynne McCord: The Epitome of Flirty, Fun, Youthful Style

Anna Lynne McCord

Anna Lynne McCord

I really don’t know much about AnnaLynne McCord except: 1) she stars in the CW’s remake of 90210 and 2) she’s been linked to Kellan Lutz, who everyone seems to be obsessed with these days. Other than that, the one thing I keep coming back to each time I see her photo is that maybe blondes really do have more fun. Her style is super easy-going yet sexy and just screams ‘fun.’

Prestige Cosmetics Liquid Eyeliner ($5.59, Ulta)

Prestige Cosmetics Liquid Eyeliner ($5.59, Ulta)

I love liquid eyeliner. When I’m in a hurry, I apply it to my top and bottom lashlines and go. Instant definition and no need for mascara! My problem is that I don’t have a very steady hand. If, like me, you need a liquid eyeliner that makes drawing neat lines easy, look no further than Prestige Cosmetics liquid eyeliner.

It has a pointed foam applicator that easily glides along the eyelid so there’s need to pull your lid out to your ear. It also allows you to control the width of the line; use the pointed tip for a precise, thin line or tilt the applicator slightly to the side to create a thicker, smokier line. My favorite color is the green because it really makes brown eyes pop.

The price for this prestigious tool? Drum roll, please…$5.59!

Croco Rainboots: Style for Rainy Days

Croco¬† rainboots are my new obsession. I think it’s a genuis idea to use a croco embossed texture, which we often see on designer handbags, on a functional shoe. It instantly gives the black rubber boots a touch of city-chic. I could easily see these croco boots with jeans and a cute cardigan, without worrying about how they affect the overall look of the outfit.

Stealing Brooklyn Decker’s Style

Brooklyn Decker

Brooklyn Decker

Ah, the Sports Illustrated swimsuit model. If this title doesn’t make you a goddess, nothing will. Brooklyn Decker is exactly that. Tall, never-ending legs, flowing blond hair–the girl’s got it all. And she doesn’t seem to lack style savvy either.

I really loved one of her recent outfits. A simple black mini-dress, grey peep-toe booties and an unembellished gray handbag make for a put-together look that does not scream “this outfit required hours of maintenance.” What’s even better news for us is that you can easily find all of these staples for a fraction of the cost.

If you are shy about showing off your legs, you can still totally pull off this Brooklyn Decker-inspired look by opting for a dress that ends more towards the knees. Just be sure to choose one that is fitted. An a-line dress that flares out at the bottom is not the best garment to pair with an ankle boot. If you do go with a looser cut, wear it with boots that reach the calf or higher.

Keep in mind that this little number may just get you on the cover of Sports Illustrated.

Donna Karan Spring 2010 Ready-to-Wear

Donna Karan Spring 2010 Ready-to-Wear Collection

Donna Karan Spring 2010 Ready-to-Wear Collection, Photo: Marcio Madeira

It’s been a while since I’ve felt as inspired as I did when I was looking at pictures of Donna Karan’s Sporing 2010 ready-to-wear collection. These garments may not be there as “out there” and unconventional as some couture pieces, but to me they are art.

Granted, this collection will not appeal to everyone’s style. Its overall look¬† is very feminine and romantic. The color palette consists of a lot of pastels and neutrals, while the fabrics feature tons of draping and ruching.

I love the idea of pairing a peach-colored top with a simple grey skirt. It’s a reserved color combination but it definitely makes an impact. For shoes, choose a grey or silver peep toe pump–one with an ankle strap if you really want to mirror the Donna Karan look. (I would KILL to have the shoes the model is wearing on the runaway, they are amazing.)

Can’t wait to see what Donna Karan will do next!
