Dolce & Gabbana Fall 2010 Ready-to-Wear: Recreating the Look
March 6, 2010 by Anna

The Dolce & Gabbana Fall 2010 ready-to-wear show was truly a feast for the eyes. The best way to describe it would be an explosion of rich textures and patterns, including velvet, lace, tweed, florals and animal prints. Your mother probably always told you to never wear these together at the same time; D&G brilliantly defies this style principle.
Layering is a recurring theme in this collection. Never afraid to push the envelope, D&G had models marching down the runway wearing black blazers with nothing but lingere-like leotards underneath. While I’m not suggesting you don one of these combinations for your next outing, there are a number of other looks from this collection that translate perfectly to the everyday setting.
You’re probably thinking right now, “Where am I going to find a gorgeous D&G-esque silk yellow dress with black lace accents?” This is where creativity comes in. Simply throw a black lace or delicate crochet scarf over a super girly yellow dress and you’re good! Complete the look with semi-opaque tights, a black tote and pumps.

Spring 2010 Trend: Turquoise

Right now, I’m in total “research spring trends” mode. I’ve had enough of winter–can you tell?! In addition to nude/tan shoes and sailor/nautical motifs, turquoise is going to be big for Spring 2010.
Turquoise is a gorgeous color that makes a major impact. Below are a few turquoise things that caught my eye.
Large Stone Drop Earrings ($34.50, Express)
Studded Ruched Top ($12.49, Charlotte Russe)
Women’s Faux-Leather Thong Sandals, Turquoise ($9.50, Old Navy)
Kate Landry Croco Patch Hardframe Clutch ($26.60, Dillards)
La Mer Collections Double Chain Wrap Watch

There’s nothing better than a watch that is both practical and incredibly stylish. The La Mer Collections Double Chain Wrap Watch definitely fulfills both of these criteria.
Practical: The face includes all 12 numbers, which means you can easily tell what time it is when you quickly glance at the watch. The wide leather strap, meanwhile, ensures that the watch stays in place instead of sliding up and down your wrist.
Stylish: Make no mistake, this is a statement watch that can stand on its own. When you put it on, there’s no need for any other bracelets or rings. What’s more is that the deep grey of the strap will go with pretty everything in your wardrobe.
The gold studs and chains that intertwine with the strap give this watch a perfect dash of toughness. Pair it with feminine pieces such as a delicate blouse or ruffled cardigan.
$108 is a very reasonable price for a quality watch. When you add to the equation its style value, the Double Chain Wrap Watch is a splurge-worthy must-have.

AnnaLynne McCord: The Epitome of Flirty, Fun, Youthful Style

Anna Lynne McCord
I really don’t know much about AnnaLynne McCord except: 1) she stars in the CW’s remake of 90210 and 2) she’s been linked to Kellan Lutz, who everyone seems to be obsessed with these days. Other than that, the one thing I keep coming back to each time I see her photo is that maybe blondes really do have more fun. Her style is super easy-going yet sexy and just screams ‘fun.’

Smart Shoppers Unite: New Meeting Place for the Savings-Savvy

This week I joined SmartShoppersUnite.com, a social network for, as the name suggests, smart shoppers. The site features discussion boards, member profile pages that include photo albums and a blogging section, games, a coupon section and more. I’d describe it as Facebook for people who love scoping out the best deals on fashion, home decor and other areas.
Today was my first day of posting and hanging out on Smart Shoppers Unite and it was so much fun. I’ve already “met” a bunch of great people and picked up some super useful tips like how to give your room a makeover for under $150. There is so much neat information on the site, with everyone sharing their favorite savings tips and latest bargains.
I’m going to be contributing to the site on a regular basis in the coming months. I highly recommend that you guys sign up on SSU and join the conversation. If you like the type of stuff we talk about here, I guarantee that you’ll like what you find on SSU. It will be a great opportunity for us to talk; my profile name is StealThisDress. See you there!
Pink Pumps Make the World Go Round

This may be my favorite StealThisDress! post to date. Pink heels! What more could you ask for? If your style is similar to mine, nothing. The shows below, all of which I found on Zappos, to me all scream Carrie Bradshaw and it’s fabulous. Just imagine how amazing any of these pairs would look with a dark-colored dress or dark jeans and a fancy top.
My favorite pair is probably the second one from the top. That jewel-encrusted heel is to die for. Let’s see, only about three more months until it gets warm enough to wear shoes like these outside. Here’s to a summer of pink pumps coming soon!

Jessica Simpson ‘Fancy Love’ Fragrance: New Must-Have Perfume
January 29, 2010 by Anna
If you’ve been following us for a while, you know that I’ve never done a perfume review before. I absolutely love perfume and don’t leave home without it under any circumstances. I shy away from covering fragrances because when it comes to eloquently describing a scent like so many beauty writers brilliantly do, I’m at a loss for words–no pun intended.
Jessica Simpson’s ‘Fancy Love’ smells so good that I had to tell you about it. Well, I’ll take a stab at trying to describe it: it’s musky with some subtle floral notes. There, that’s the most literary creativity you’ll get from me. But seriously, though, Fancy Love is irresistible. There a lot of perfumes that I love but have to be in the mood for. Fancy Love, on the other hand, I know I’ll wear whenever and whatever the weather.
As always, I really appreciate how reasonably priced Jessica Simpson’s products are. And how pretty is that bottle?!

Celine Pre Fall 2010: Not for the Color Shy
January 20, 2010 by Anna
Filed under Featured, Off the Runway
Looking at this stunning outfit from Celine’s Pre Fall 2010 showing, I would never guess that this fashion house started in 1945 as a made-to-measure shoe business for children. I absolutely adore Celine and am issuing a disclaimer that our next Off the Runway segment may also focus on Celine because I saw about a dozen other looks in this collection that I would love to feature.
Replicating this solid-colored ensemble is a piece of cake; just throw on a long-sleeved black mini-dress, red footed tights and red Mary Jane’s. But don’t be fooled by this seemingly simple combination; red and black make a bold duo that immediately pops. Picking out the right combination of shades is key. Opt for dark crimson red tights; when choosing shoes, stick with a lighter shade of red that has more orange undertones to it.
(Tangent: Doesn’t this look totally remind you of Kate Spade? I’m not sure if it was a seasonal thing or more of a branding effort, but this fall one of the Kate Spade ads featured red tights AND all of the staff members were wearing them when I went to the Kate Spade store during the holidays.)
Given the intensity of the colors, stick with a simple hairstyle. Try a ponytail with a side part, flat ironed tresses parted straight down the middle or some soft waves. When it comes to makeup, once again–less is more. Emphasize just one feature by pairing a strong red lip with just a bit of liner and mascara. Or you can do a smoky eye with a nude or sheer lip.

Yves Saint Laurent Zip-Top Easy Tote
January 9, 2010 by Anna

Dayuuum. That’s all I have to say about the YSL Zip-Top Easy Tote. No, seriously though, this may be the most fantastic bag I’ve ever seen.
That color! The website calls it red, but to me, it’s clearly pink. I realize that this color may limit the mass appeal of the bag. As someone who has phone, camera, laptop, iPod and wallet are all pink, I sometimes overlook this aspect. I think this is what makes this a gutsy, “I stand out” bag.
What else is perfect about the YSL Zip-Top Easy Tote? The size. 11″ x 16″ x 8″ means it will fit papers, a couple of folders, a little makeup bag and other stuff you need for the day. So that means you can take it to work! Isn’t that always the ultimate justification for a fashion purchase, whether you can use it for work or not?
I realize I may sound way too excited right now, but there must be something to pink bags if Sarah Jessica Parker wore one, right?
