Dolce & Gabbana Look: Looking Glam, Going Green, Paying Less

Dolce Gabbana Pre-Fall 2008

Dolce Gabbana Pre-Fall 2008

I laugh every time I remember that The Devil Wears Prada scene in which Andi (Anne Hathaway) meekly asks how to spell Dolce & Gabbana during her first day of working for a fashion magazine. It seems almost absurd to think that someone today could not know this iconic fashion house.

I spotted this look while flipping through photos of last year’s pre-fall collection. Since maxi dresses are all the rage for summer, this seemed like the perfect time to draw upon this D&G masterpiece for inspiration.

The two dresses I’ve picked are made of a more daytime-friendly cotton than the shiny satin D&G gown. But that’s not to say that either of these dresses wouldn’t be appropriate for evening. You guessed it–pair ’em with your favorite accessories and you’re ready to hit the town.

Square toe flats complete this D&G inspired look. I highly recommend Jessica Simpson’s shoe collection,  In particular, have a look at her flats, which many women I’ve spoken to find to be extremely comfortable. When the summer heat gets to be too much, consider choosing an open-toe style flat from Jessica or another designer’s collection.

Before I sign off, I’d like to encourage you guys to check out the Gypsy05 dress above, which is made of organic fabrics and natural dyes. There is no reason why the clothes we wear should be excluded from our efforts to go green.
