Vanessa Hudgens: Transforming a Shirtdress from Drab to Fab

Vanessa Hudgens
Though at first glance they may look shapeless and bland, I love shirt dresses. I just bought one in seersucker pattern at H&M last weekend and wore it today with a wide belt, which is the key to making these sack-like garments flatter your shape. These dresses are so flowy and comfortable, perfect for the scorching temperatures that are heading our way.
Vanessa Hudgens recently wore a light blue shirtdress. I think this look suits her style so well; it’s a more sophisticated interpretation of the laid-back, boho styles that she often rocks.
You can easily make a plain, light-blue shirtdress pop with a brown leather belt and sandals, a black tote and a cream colored sunhat.

Miranda Kerr Style For Less

I love it when celebs have their own unique style that they stick to instead of wearing anything and everything that is has been dubbed “on-trend” at the moment. At the top of that list is Miranda Kerr. When she’s not modeling bikinis or unmentionables, she tends to go for simple, versatile basics that create a statement-making look when paired together.
I love the idea of throwing a long black blazer over a simple striped dress and casual flip flops. The final element, a quilted black purse with chain accents, adds just the right touch of sophistication to the look.

Stealing Brooklyn Decker’s Style

Brooklyn Decker
Ah, the Sports Illustrated swimsuit model. If this title doesn’t make you a goddess, nothing will. Brooklyn Decker is exactly that. Tall, never-ending legs, flowing blond hair–the girl’s got it all. And she doesn’t seem to lack style savvy either.
I really loved one of her recent outfits. A simple black mini-dress, grey peep-toe booties and an unembellished gray handbag make for a put-together look that does not scream “this outfit required hours of maintenance.” What’s even better news for us is that you can easily find all of these staples for a fraction of the cost.
If you are shy about showing off your legs, you can still totally pull off this Brooklyn Decker-inspired look by opting for a dress that ends more towards the knees. Just be sure to choose one that is fitted. An a-line dress that flares out at the bottom is not the best garment to pair with an ankle boot. If you do go with a looser cut, wear it with boots that reach the calf or higher.
Keep in mind that this little number may just get you on the cover of Sports Illustrated.

Pop quiz! Without cheating by looking at the labels, can you guess which of these bags costs more $1,000 and which one is about $60? Hard to tell, isn’t it? Who knew “spot the difference” could be so good for your wallet!

Yves Saint Laurent Zip-Top Easy Tote

Dayuuum. That’s all I have to say about the YSL Zip-Top Easy Tote. No, seriously though, this may be the most fantastic bag I’ve ever seen.
That color! The website calls it red, but to me, it’s clearly pink. I realize that this color may limit the mass appeal of the bag. As someone who has phone, camera, laptop, iPod and wallet are all pink, I sometimes overlook this aspect. I think this is what makes this a gutsy, “I stand out” bag.
What else is perfect about the YSL Zip-Top Easy Tote? The size. 11″ x 16″ x 8″ means it will fit papers, a couple of folders, a little makeup bag and other stuff you need for the day. So that means you can take it to work! Isn’t that always the ultimate justification for a fashion purchase, whether you can use it for work or not?
I realize I may sound way too excited right now, but there must be something to pink bags if Sarah Jessica Parker wore one, right?

We often rely too much on our jewelry for sparkle. If you are of the opinion that other accessories can and should be used to dazzle, then the Franchi ‘Carrie – Crystal Cage’ Frame Bag is for you.
The crystal net surrounding this gorgeous satin clutch is to die for. With New Year’s just around the corner, your purse deserves to be dripping in diamonds just as much as you do! Those who wish to channel an old Hollywood glamor look will also love the vintage-style kiss-lock closure on this clutch.
In addition to plum, the Crystal Cage bag is also available in black, whine and champagne. I want it in all four colors!

Marc Jacobs ‘Stardust Cecillia’ Studded Leather Satchel

Historic moment: StealThisDress! is reviewing its first “splurge worthy” purse. We’ve chosen Marc Jacobs’ phenomenal ‘Stardust Cecillia’ Studded Leather Satchel as one of the “it bags” for this fall.
Sprinkled with delightful goldtone studs, the ‘Stardust Cecillia’ does not lack sparkle. MJ even finds a way to serve up the shoulder strap with a generous dose of fabulosity in the form of a 14 inch gold chain. These metallic elements are right on target for next season. And what better color to take you into fall than a delicious purple?
Just imagine how amazing this bag will look with a cute little pea coat and boots. Yum!

Baghaus: Because a Girl Can Never Have Enough Bags

Designer handbags. They are the obsession of the majority of the female population, to the point that there are dozens of blogs devoted solely to covering the latest and greatest purses. Oh, why do they have to be so #$@$ expensive?! Argh.
If designer bags are as touchy of a subject for you as they are for me, have a look at Baghaus, whose specialty is designer and celebrity inspired styles. Their selection is quite large. Animal print, quilted a la Chanel, faux croc–you name, they got it.
I also love that almost every style is available in a whole bunch of colors. I spotted four or five bags that I’m dying to get just while browsing the first page.
In case you need a reason/justification to get a new bag–Baghaus is having a massive sale right now. Combined with the already affordable prices, this is a such a spectacular deal.
