This week I joined SmartShoppersUnite.com, a social network for, as the name suggests, smart shoppers. The site features discussion boards, member profile pages that include photo albums and a blogging section, games, a coupon section and more. I’d describe it as Facebook for people who love scoping out the best deals on fashion, home decor and other areas.

Today was my first day of posting and hanging out on Smart Shoppers Unite and it was so much fun. I’ve already “met” a bunch of great people and picked up some super useful tips like how to give your room a makeover for under $150. There is so much neat information on the site, with everyone sharing their favorite savings tips and latest bargains.

I’m going to be contributing to the site on a regular basis in the coming months.  I highly recommend that you guys sign up on SSU and join the conversation. If you like the type of stuff  we talk about here, I guarantee that you’ll like what you find on SSU.  It will be a great opportunity for us to talk; my profile name is StealThisDress. See you there!

Anna Sui Resort 2010 Collection

If you’ve visited any fashion and/or celebrity blogs this week, chances are you’ve seen the sneak peek photos of designer Anna Sui’s new line for Target, which is inspired by the four leading ladies of Gossip Girl. However, the collection will not be released until September. Sadly, those of us who can’t wait to get our greedy little shopper paws on this clothing that will help us look like Blair and Serena will have to wait.

In the meantime, check out this outfit from Anna Sui’s Resort 2010 collection. I love the idea of dressing up loose-fitting boyfriend jeans and an edgy graphic tee with a shiny, textured jacket. If you are a fan of looks that say both glam and “I don’t give a damn,” this is the outfit for you. To avoid an overly grungy look, I suggest sticking with a tee that has a hint of bright color such as yellow or orange.

Women have known for years that heels can instantly dress up denim. This style secret is especially handy when it comes to ultra-casual, rolled up boyfriend jeans. A sexy heel and lots of straps will do the trick. Our shoe-obsessed readers will probably be interested to know that the Charlotte Russe Patent Cuffed Sandals pictured below were  recently chosen by the style mavens of WhoWhatWear.com as one of the best summer shoes under $100.

As I was avoiding tackling my infinite to-do list this morning, I came across two websites dedicated to providing information about the ins and outs of the fashion industry. In just a few minutes on each site, I managed to fall in love with a swim suit line, have a peek at some stunning Fashion Week photos, see a listing for a job I’m interested in and read an account of what it is like to start up a boutique. Who said good things can’t come out of procrastination?

Apparel SearchHave a look at  Apparel Search, which offers a tremendous wealth of resources to anyone who is interested in the many dimensions of the fashion industry. Just a few examples of what you will find include a search engine for fashion jobs, a guide to textiles, a directory of model agencies and fashion news. Whatever aspect of the fashion world you are interested in, you’re bound to find information on it at Apparel Search.

Because networking is quickly becoming an increasingly indispensable business tool, I also encourage you to check out the Fashion Industry Network. Here you will find fellow users constantly posting updates about things such as product launches and openings–great opportunity to get the word out about your own projects!

Fashion Industry Network

At Fashion Industry Network, you can also join various forums and engage in discussions with other ‘fashion people’ who share your interests. Whether you are trying to break into the industry or already have plenty of experience under your belt, this is your chance to learn more and benefit from the knowledge and experience of others. Think of it as Facebook for the fashion world.
