Dolce & Gabbana Fall 2010 Ready-to-Wear: Recreating the Look

The Dolce & Gabbana Fall 2010 ready-to-wear show was truly a feast for the eyes. The best way to describe it would be an explosion of rich textures and patterns, including velvet, lace, tweed, florals and animal prints. Your mother probably always told you to never wear these together at the same time; D&G brilliantly defies this style principle.
Layering is a recurring theme in this collection. Never afraid to push the envelope, D&G had models marching down the runway wearing black blazers with nothing but lingere-like leotards underneath. While I’m not suggesting you don one of these combinations for your next outing, there are a number of other looks from this collection that translate perfectly to the everyday setting.
You’re probably thinking right now, “Where am I going to find a gorgeous D&G-esque silk yellow dress with black lace accents?” This is where creativity comes in. Simply throw a black lace or delicate crochet scarf over a super girly yellow dress and you’re good! Complete the look with semi-opaque tights, a black tote and pumps.

Nude Pumps:Splurge vs. Steal

Nude and tan-colored shoes are another big trend for Spring 2010. Since they go with every other color, they’ll quickly become one of your most dependable staples. You might as well say that nude is the new black. As an added bonus, nude pumps have an incredible leg-lengthening effect, making your them look a mile long!

Donna Karan Spring 2010 Ready-to-Wear

It’s been a while since I’ve felt as inspired as I did when I was looking at pictures of Donna Karan’s Sporing 2010 ready-to-wear collection. These garments may not be there as “out there” and unconventional as some couture pieces, but to me they are art.
Granted, this collection will not appeal to everyone’s style. Its overall look is very feminine and romantic. The color palette consists of a lot of pastels and neutrals, while the fabrics feature tons of draping and ruching.
I love the idea of pairing a peach-colored top with a simple grey skirt. It’s a reserved color combination but it definitely makes an impact. For shoes, choose a grey or silver peep toe pump–one with an ankle strap if you really want to mirror the Donna Karan look. (I would KILL to have the shoes the model is wearing on the runaway, they are amazing.)
Can’t wait to see what Donna Karan will do next!

Pink Pumps Make the World Go Round

This may be my favorite StealThisDress! post to date. Pink heels! What more could you ask for? If your style is similar to mine, nothing. The shows below, all of which I found on Zappos, to me all scream Carrie Bradshaw and it’s fabulous. Just imagine how amazing any of these pairs would look with a dark-colored dress or dark jeans and a fancy top.
My favorite pair is probably the second one from the top. That jewel-encrusted heel is to die for. Let’s see, only about three more months until it gets warm enough to wear shoes like these outside. Here’s to a summer of pink pumps coming soon!

Elizabeth and James Reina Suede Button Pumps

Say what you want about the Olsen twins, but they have earned every last bit of their fame and success. They are only 23 and have already built a huge empire, including the genius Elizabeth and James clothing line. They have some really fabulous stuff; one of my recent favorites is the Reina Suede Button shoe.
Suede shoes are unbeatable, in my opinion. Feminine and elegant, they have a more refined look than do leather pumps. The Reina shoe uses a super simple concept–little dots–to create a stunning design. I’d wear it to work with a cute dress or on day off with jeans and a sweater.
And isn’t it always the simple designs that are best? Yes, especially in these times. They are versatile, allowing you to pair them with almost anything in your wardrobe. The Reina Suede Button shoe is no exception.

Twilight’s Ashley Greene: Who Knew Vampires Could Look So Good?

I’ve realized that one pop-culture phenomenon that we’ve never mentioned on StealThisDress! is Twilight. I watched the first movie and really liked it. But I’m definitely not one of those obsessed fans. When I read on Perez about how the cast was once again mobbed by hysterical teenyboppers or the latest speculation about the romance between Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson, I usually zone out. The one Twilight star that I do love, though, is Ashley Greene.
A combination of white, cream and champagne tones is a beautiful choices for brunettes or ladies with a darker complexion. There is something undeniably angelic about this combination. If you choose to wear these colors, you gotta accessorize your outfit with gold jewelry. That’s just an unwritten law, in my opinion. If you want to literally glow, this is the color palette you should be working with.
As for Ashley Greene, talk about stunning natural beauty! I really hope she gets more screen-time in the rest of the Twilight series.

Just when I thought platform heels couldn’t get any better, these clever designers went and made the platform a different color from the rest of the shoe. Basically, an instant way to add splashes of color to whatever you are wearing. I’m currently in the process of deciding which of these fabulous Aldo pairs to snag for this weekend’s festivities.
