Gotta Get Gap Shoes for Spring 2010

As things get busier and busier at work, I find myself with less and less time to go shopping. I’ve started buying more things online. If I do end up going to the mall, I usually don’t have time to go to one store for a dress, another for shoes, another for jewelry, etc.
As a result, I’m always on the lookout for stores where I can get everything I need in one stop. Gap has become one of my new favorites for this exact reason; I get get an outfit and shoes in one place. It’s not always easy to find a brand that does both equally well. I’m really loving the flats and sandals at Gap this season, check them out below:

Spring 2010 Trend: Turquoise

Right now, I’m in total “research spring trends” mode. I’ve had enough of winter–can you tell?! In addition to nude/tan shoes and sailor/nautical motifs, turquoise is going to be big for Spring 2010.
Turquoise is a gorgeous color that makes a major impact. Below are a few turquoise things that caught my eye.
Large Stone Drop Earrings ($34.50, Express)
Studded Ruched Top ($12.49, Charlotte Russe)
Women’s Faux-Leather Thong Sandals, Turquoise ($9.50, Old Navy)
Kate Landry Croco Patch Hardframe Clutch ($26.60, Dillards)
Croco Rainboots: Style for Rainy Days

Croco rainboots are my new obsession. I think it’s a genuis idea to use a croco embossed texture, which we often see on designer handbags, on a functional shoe. It instantly gives the black rubber boots a touch of city-chic. I could easily see these croco boots with jeans and a cute cardigan, without worrying about how they affect the overall look of the outfit.

Stealing Brooklyn Decker’s Style

Brooklyn Decker
Ah, the Sports Illustrated swimsuit model. If this title doesn’t make you a goddess, nothing will. Brooklyn Decker is exactly that. Tall, never-ending legs, flowing blond hair–the girl’s got it all. And she doesn’t seem to lack style savvy either.
I really loved one of her recent outfits. A simple black mini-dress, grey peep-toe booties and an unembellished gray handbag make for a put-together look that does not scream “this outfit required hours of maintenance.” What’s even better news for us is that you can easily find all of these staples for a fraction of the cost.
If you are shy about showing off your legs, you can still totally pull off this Brooklyn Decker-inspired look by opting for a dress that ends more towards the knees. Just be sure to choose one that is fitted. An a-line dress that flares out at the bottom is not the best garment to pair with an ankle boot. If you do go with a looser cut, wear it with boots that reach the calf or higher.
Keep in mind that this little number may just get you on the cover of Sports Illustrated.

Donna Karan Spring 2010 Ready-to-Wear

It’s been a while since I’ve felt as inspired as I did when I was looking at pictures of Donna Karan’s Sporing 2010 ready-to-wear collection. These garments may not be there as “out there” and unconventional as some couture pieces, but to me they are art.
Granted, this collection will not appeal to everyone’s style. Its overall look is very feminine and romantic. The color palette consists of a lot of pastels and neutrals, while the fabrics feature tons of draping and ruching.
I love the idea of pairing a peach-colored top with a simple grey skirt. It’s a reserved color combination but it definitely makes an impact. For shoes, choose a grey or silver peep toe pump–one with an ankle strap if you really want to mirror the Donna Karan look. (I would KILL to have the shoes the model is wearing on the runaway, they are amazing.)
Can’t wait to see what Donna Karan will do next!

Elizabeth and James Reina Suede Button Pumps

Say what you want about the Olsen twins, but they have earned every last bit of their fame and success. They are only 23 and have already built a huge empire, including the genius Elizabeth and James clothing line. They have some really fabulous stuff; one of my recent favorites is the Reina Suede Button shoe.
Suede shoes are unbeatable, in my opinion. Feminine and elegant, they have a more refined look than do leather pumps. The Reina shoe uses a super simple concept–little dots–to create a stunning design. I’d wear it to work with a cute dress or on day off with jeans and a sweater.
And isn’t it always the simple designs that are best? Yes, especially in these times. They are versatile, allowing you to pair them with almost anything in your wardrobe. The Reina Suede Button shoe is no exception.

GoJane.com, a Must-Visit Site

GoJane.com is an online clothing and accessories retailer that should be part of any budget-conscious fashion lover’s arsenal. The shoes are, by far, my favorite thing at GoJane. If boots are your footwear of choice, let’s just say that you may never want to shop anywhere else again after you see the inventory at GoJane. I’m going to leave it at that and let you be the judge when you check it out.
The site also has some seriously fabulous deals on selected items–I want to say every week, but don’t quote me on that. This week, for example, you can get a long-sleeved V-neck t shirt for $4, some dressy tops in the $6-$14 range and sweater boots that look very similar to Cardy Uggs for $14.99.
So, have a look. This site is really a gem. I heard about it through another blog and have been hooked since.

When is to comes to protecting the environment, I feel that many people tend to overlook the ocean. To get us thinking more about the importance of protecting our oceans, from now until Wear Blue for Oceans I’d like to regularly feature blue clothing and accessories that can help show your support for this cause AND make a major fashion statement. To get us started, I picked a few blue accessories which will add a brilliant dash of color to your outfit.
