Turquoise is a gorgeous color that makes a major impact. Below are a few turquoise things that caught my eye.
Nude and tan-colored shoes are another big trend for Spring 2010. Since they go with every other color, they’ll quickly become one of your most dependable staples. You might as well say that nude is the new black. As an added bonus, nude pumps have an incredible leg-lengthening effect, making your them look a mile long!
I’ve reached the conclusion that black will forever be the most versatile color there is. There is simply not other color that can be easily dressed up or down depending on the occasion you are dressing for. When shopping in this economy, black pieces seem to be an increasingly smart choice. And many designers appear to be of the same opinion. Calvin Klein is no exception.
I pulled this look from the Calvin Klein Fall 2009 ready-to-wear line.I love the idea of throwing a feminine blazer that has ruffled details over a simple, one-shoulder LBD and then completing the look with boots, as opposed to pumps, for that urban warrior vibe.
If your office environment is not all about conservative suits, I think this outfit would be great for work; it’s sexy and sharp without being overly revealing. This type of simple black outfit outfit is also perfect if you are always dashing straight from work to a party, dinner or other event; you can just take off the blazer, throw on some funky jewelry and maybe a scarf, and you’re ready.
More and more, upscale designers are teaming up with big box and discount chains to bring us the styles we love at affordable prices. Add to that list the collaboration between Hollywood boutique Intuition and Target. I only learned that the two were working together recently and have already fallen in love with the accessories that the team has produced. Check out some of the items from the collection below. These certainly don’t look like things that cost $10-30. Kudos to Intuition owner Jaye Hersh for making accessorizing like the stars an option that is available to all of us.
As I mentioned in an earlier post, I always get a bit sad as summer comes to an end (ok, I sound a tad melodramatic–it’s only August 11th). But one of the best things about being close to the beginning of a new season is shopping for new stuff, of course!
Anyone for whom shoe shopping is a science or simply an addiction knows that the end of the summer is the best time to get boots for fall. With the new shipments of fall products starting to hit the stores now, this is the time to snag boots in your size and preferred color. Come September, the only things left are usually in Shaquille O’Neal’s size or bright yellow with polka dots.
So, I said to myself today, “Self, let’s give our readers a peek at what we have to look forward to this fall.” Have a look at what caught my eye so far and keep an eye out for more updates in the weeks to come. The cold is coming but not all hope is lost!
If you’ve visited any fashion and/or celebrity blogs this week, chances are you’ve seen the sneak peek photos of designer Anna Sui’s new line for Target, which is inspired by the four leading ladies of Gossip Girl. However, the collection will not be released until September. Sadly, those of us who can’t wait to get our greedy little shopper paws on this clothing that will help us look like Blair and Serena will have to wait.
In the meantime, check out this outfit from Anna Sui’s Resort 2010 collection. I love the idea of dressing up loose-fitting boyfriend jeans and an edgy graphic tee with a shiny, textured jacket. If you are a fan of looks that say both glam and “I don’t give a damn,” this is the outfit for you. To avoid an overly grungy look, I suggest sticking with a tee that has a hint of bright color such as yellow or orange.
Women have known for years that heels can instantly dress up denim. This style secret is especially handy when it comes to ultra-casual, rolled up boyfriend jeans. A sexy heel and lots of straps will do the trick. Our shoe-obsessed readers will probably be interested to know that the Charlotte Russe Patent Cuffed Sandals pictured below were recently chosen by the style mavens of WhoWhatWear.com as one of the best summer shoes under $100.
A year and a half later after she wore it, Leighton Meester’s ensemble from the 2008 Versace Menswear Launch is still one of my favorites. It offers a brilliant interpretation of the ‘less is more’ philosophy that will never go out of style. [Read more…]
Don’t you love it when your makeup looks so good that everyone thinks you must be using designer products? If so, then you have got to try Milani cosmetics. With everything from bronzer and foundation to lip gloss and nail polish, this collection has all the bases covered.
If a friend of mine hadn’t pointed out the Milani stand at our local pharmacy to me one day, I would have never thought to try this brand. I’m usually very reluctant to try new a makeup product once I’ve found one that suits me. However, since then, I’ve tried almost the entire Milani collection and love every product. The colors are gorgeous and do not wear off quickly.
My favorite item is the Glossy Tube–lip gloss that not only stays on for hours but also has a yummy berry smell. The entire line is very reasonably priced, with approximately $10 being the most you’ll pay for an item. You can find Milani products at your local CVS, Walgreens ,Target, WinnDixie or drugstore.com
